Collections > Kerma Culture

Kerma is a totally Nubian culture, local and very ancient, as it begins in the middle of the 3rd millennium BC with the "pre Kerma" culture, contemporary to the A Group. It lasts until the conquest of Upper Nubia at the beginning of the XVIIIth Dynasty.

Kerma (also known as the Kingdom of Kush) is a true state, led by a prince, heqa, well known by the ancient Egyptians. Its political and religious capital is the ancient town of Kerma.
